With less than two weeks until the movers come, I sold my scooter today :( Poor scooter. I hope they take care of you.
In other news, today I also ordered a ham for next Christmas. That’s right – holiday hams must be ordered in May. They’re shipped in from the [...]

I snapped this picture at a “Language Learner’s Luncheon” at work today – the South Asia language section is proud to take any opportunity to celebrate with food. Today’s occasion? None really; it’s too long between holidays in South Asia, so they’ve created their own. The food is always delicious; our teachers [...]

There are tons of pages out there, I discovered, the idea being that native speakers of different languages come together over the internet to chat and [...]
The hard part about this job…

is that the great people you meet have to up and move to a different country just as soon as you really get to be friends. A couple of close friends from my entering class left today for Mexico and I’m pretty bummed – it won’t be the same without them here.
It also turns [...]
To give you some idea …

about the painful and terribly slow process of language-learning:
For the past couple months I’ve made an effort to listen to the daily Bengali news broadcast from the BBC. I don’t catch most of it, but as my vocabulary is growing I pick up more and more of the general gist of what they’re talking [...]
